Students of the bachelor's programme Business Informatics at the DIPLOM University of Applied Sciences require the necessary skills to assess conventional mechanical and electrical problems, and to develop and apply simpler and more cost-effective procedures. In their careers, their tasks will mostly include improving information systems - adapting them to the needs of a business and expanding them as necessary. By the completion of the degree programme, graduates command a wide overview of contemporary information and communications systems, with particularly advanced skills in the areas of e-business and ERP systems. In addition, the degree programme imparts the necessary knowledge to manage leadership tasks in relevant departments or project teams. To this end, skills in presentation techniques, project management, teamwork and business english will be developed.
Among the most important careers in IT for graduates of Business Informatics are the occupations application developer and system analysts. To their assignments belong documentation, development, planning and introduction of hardware and software systems. Significant aspects of this work are also the support of users and the modification of programmes. Furthermore, those in business informatics are in the position to assess the impact of the organization. There are also occupations, where consulting and organizational services are in the foreground. In these jobs, business informatics experts often play a mediary role between IT specialists and users, who often only possess the most basic IT knowledge. Such job positions in this field include IT Consultant, IT Controller, IT Project Manager or In-House Consultant.

This emphasis includes the following four modules: ERP Applications, Data Warehousing, E-Business and Lab Internship Business Informatics. Using an example of a functional ERP system from a model business, students develop them for case study firms from various sectors. Or, students focus their skills during the Lab Internship on industrial equipment.
This specialization consists of the following modules: Software Engineering II, Data Warehousing and Software Project.
