Preparation to Master
BIC works with some of the best universities in Germany to offer:
- Master of Arts (MA)
- Master of Engineering (MEng)
- Master of Science (MSc)
Prerequisites for a master's degree in Germany
1. A relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited university
2. A cumulative GPA of at least 2,5 when converted to the German grading system
3. The bachelor's degree must last at least 4 years
4. German language ability at the C1 level or better
You will need 1-3 before you will be accepted to BIC. You do not need previous German knowledge, but we recommend you at least start a course now in your home country while your applications are being processed.
You can check whether or not your bachelor's degree is recognized in Germany using the anabin database
Which BIC Preparation Program?
Only the BIC Preparation Program track PP is appropriate for master's degrees because the Studienkolleg is only required for certain international students when applying to bachelor's degrees. If you already have certification of C1 or better German language ability, then the Prep-Course Math+ and/or direct placement with a partner university can be booked individually.
Required language skills
Your language abilities will be evaluated according to the criteria of the European Union (EU). These differentiate between the following skills:
You can test your current level by comparing it to the official EU definitions. However, for your application, the BIC Berlin International College requires an additional certificate that proves your level of language abilities, e.g. from the Goethe-Institut for German programs.
