Preparation to Bachelor
BIC works with some of the best universities in Germany to offer:
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Prerequisites for a bachelor's degree in Germany
Prerequisites vary from country to country and can be quite complicated because of the diversity in secondary school systems throughout the world. In every case the following is required:
1. A higher secondary school certificate that qualifies you for higher education in your country
In addition, the following might also be required:
2. A relevant focus (e.g., technical, or science)
3. A higher education entrance examination
4. One or more years completed at an accredited university in a relevant degree program
5. Language skills at the level C1 or better
Most international students are not eligible to be admitted directly to a German bachelor's degree. First, they must prove their language ability, and they might need to take a higher education entrance examination as well. The exam is called the FSP, and passing the exam results in HZB (the right to study in Germany). The BIC Preparation Program fulfills all entrance criteria to any technical degree in Germany. Placement at a BIC partner university is guaranteed as long as you successfully graduate from BIC.
Which BIC Preparation Program?
If you need to take the FSP and earn HZB, then the BIC Preparation Program PPS is for you. If you already have HZB and only need to develop your language skills, then the BIC Preparation Program PP is right for you. If you already have both HZB and C1 or better German language skills, then the Prep-Course Math+ and/or direct placement with a partner university can be booked individually. To the application.
German Higher Education Entry Qualification (HZB)
If you went to secondary school in a country of the EU, and you are qualified to study at a university in your home country, then you will also qualify for direct entry to a German university. If you are from a non-EU country, you may need to take a higher education entrance exam called the FSP, which awards HZB if passed. You can check whether or not you need to take the FSP using the anabin database.
Required language skills
Your language abilities will be evaluated according to the criteria of the European Union (EU). These differentiate between the following skills:
You can test your current level by comparing it to the official EU definitions. However, for your application, the BIC Berlin International College requires an additional certificate that proves your level of language abilities, e.g. from the Goethe-Institut for German programs.
