    This English-taught Bachelor's degree in Robotics is open to all interested students who fulfil the academic entry requirements of the German higher education system.

    English Language Certification:
    • Valid TOEFL IBT® test result of at least 83 points (internet-based)
    • Valid IELTS test with at least 6.0 points
    • Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) or Cambridge B2 First, minimum grade C
    • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge C1 Advanced, minimum level B2
    • UNIcert® Certificate, minimum level II (UniCert® II)
    • English language certificates at the minimum level B2 obtained at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt

Description

First time

On January 2020 students who wish to pursuit a B.Eng. Robotics of FHWS can join the BIC Preparation Program PPS English for the first time. Thereby they will be among the first students to study this inovative and future-orientated study degree at FHWS from wintersemester 2020.

Study Contents

The study program is characterized by a high degree of application and practice-oriented teaching contents, which are continuously adapted to the trend of professional development. The curriculum includes lectures in the field of engineering and computer science. The lectures on computer science will enable students to apply advanced methods of artificial intelligence (AI) and pave their way into a strategic future field of robotics. A central component of the study program are practical courses, which take place in each semester of the basic studies and specialisation phase. According to the motto "Learning by doing", the practical courses help to consolidate theoretical knowledge through practical application.

The course of study comprises three sections. The first section is the basic study period from the 1st to the 4th semester. In this section, the students learn about the basics of computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering as well as soft skills. During the subsequent internship (5th semester) students gain professional experience in a company. Afterwards, in the 6th and 7th semester, students can specialise in a certain field of robotics (Specialisations). Finally, in the 7th semester, the programme concludes with the preparation of the bachelor's thesis.

Specialisations

The study program Robotics aims to cover all relevant fields of robotics. This self-imposed goal is met by an offer of three specialisations between which students can choose in their 6th and 7th semester. The specilisations include "Industrial Robotics", "Mobile Robotics" and "Humanoids and Service Robotics". The specialisations deal with the following topics:

  • Industrial robotics: Automation and production technology, collaborative robotics, kinematics and dynamics of serial and parallel manipulators, programming of industrial robots
  • Mobile robotics: Navigation and mapping, mobile platforms (air, land, water and underwater platforms), flight mechanics and drones
  • Humanoids and Service Robotics: Speech recognition and speech synthesis, upright locomotion, bionics, human robot interaction (HRI)
FHWS TWIN concept

The TWIN concept is based on offering degree program bilingually in German and English. Both programmes include the same content and thus offer students the opportunity to switch flexibly between the German and English program. This encourages to develop language skills in a professional context. In addition, students gain intercultural skills and thus increase their chances for an international career.

With the bachelor's program Robotics, the FHWS continues the success story of the TWIN concept. Parallel to the English-language course "Robotics", an equivalent German-language course "Robotik" will be offered. Students who make use of the bilingual course and examination offer receive a TWIN certificate upon successful completion of their studies, which gives an international accent to their competence portfolio.
